Artist review
As a graduate of Huddersfield University Caro specialized on the structure, anatomy and movement of the horse, not only in portraiture but as an intriguing complex subject with many layers that are in turn soaring, uplifting and moving, yet with a sense of peace and tranquility that she tried to discover.
Her present work carries this to a further level, being influenced with the dappled shades of Renoir to produce what at first glance appears to be a soft gentle layering of tones but like the horse becomes alive with the use of colour and carefully placed gestural brushstrokes reflecting the muscular power of the subject.
Caro describes the horse as “A symbol of honesty, loyalty and quiet tenderness; however he is also mighty and destructive”. It is in these complexities that her interest lies which causes her to reflect that “Horses Lend us the Wings we Lack”
