March 2011
The new exhibtion at the 'Coterie Gallery', Pack Horse Lane, High Green, Sheffield. entitled "Aspects" is a two fold artistic exploration combining pleasing pastoral images illustrating nature in its pure form through dipictions of land and seascapes which are counterbalenced with 'dark' artwork dealing with the symbolic question of human mortality and our effect on nature.
It can raise the question as to what right we have to think we are in charge.and can mould nature to suit us whilst the reality is that we are but a passing phase to be tolerated as examplified in the artwork entitled "Pestilence" in which it shows 'us' to be the pestilence yet it parodies 'us' in our belief that what we do is "armless".
As as in any symbolic artwork which sets out to question, the answer lies with the individual viewer to form an opinion.
The exhibition rurns until the end of March to be followed by a much lighter exhibition with the return of the popular and long established Grenoside art group 'The Original Monteney Art Group' who will be exhibiting throughout April.
The Gallery is open from 9am-5pm Monay-Friday. Entry and parking is free. disabled access, cafe
