"FACES" AN EXHIBITION BY GCSE STUDENTS
Gallery exhibitions are much coveted by professional artists wishing to showcase their work but for art students at Ecclesfield Secondary School who are building up a portfolio of work for GCSE's this opportunity has become a reality in the form of a professional exhibition over a 3 week period in not only one, but 2 gallery spaces and an annex at the Coterie Gallery and Fine Art Studio, Pack Horse Lane, High Green, Sheffield.
The Exhibition entitled "Faces" focuses on the theme of identity both personal and of what they perceive and observe amongst themselves and the world in general.
As the title suggests the human face is central to identity of not just who we are, but who we were and how identities were depicted through the ages, indeed as the head of Art & Design Charlotte Bancock states. " Faces and personal identity are crucial themes in contemporary art and for this reason our students have focused on this theme when creating their own personal artwork. some of the outcomes are quite unique and thought provoking making us proud of their creativity and imagination resulting in academic success within the arts. This a wonderful opportunity for the community to see the professional and creative outlook we have at Ecclesfield"
The exhibition runs from the 18th September to 8th October 2009 and can be viewed at the gallery.
