A new exhibition at the 'Coterie Galley' entitled "Accessories" has the unusual distinction of being literally booted into exsistence curtesy of Vincent Van Gogh, in the form of his artwork featuring old boots. The concept of 'accessories' was the collective brainchild of an Ulley Country Park based group of independant and like minded people who come together to challenge their artistic experience. Approprietetly named 'The Ulley Group' they meet on a weekly basis to create and discuss art related topics with a view to experimenting and exploring subject matters through a theamatic enquiry involving perspective and composition in various media and subject matter. One of the themes explored were the paintings by Van Gogh of boots, this lead to a discussion that raised a range of interesting suggestions about what could be described as an 'accessory', could it be symbolic of who were are?, how could it be presented?, would it be something we would identify with as individuals?.During the production of this body of work all these issues came to the fore but with the support and consultency of other members acting as a group these problems faced as individuals were resolved, resulting in a vibrant display which reflects the creativity of all the participantsThis is the groups debut' exhibition which can be seen from the 4th to the 24th June 2010.
